Looking for a modern vanity armoire, please help :)?

Hey guys, I am hoping that someone can help me find what I am searching for. Here is the story: I found a semi-amazing vanity. I have never seen anything like it, it is an armoire, but when you open it up… it has a full vanity. It has a little desk with a mirror surrounded by ten light bulbs controlled by a dimmer switch. On the sides it has hooks for necklaces; the sides also have many different sized drawers with felt bottoms. The inside is perfect! My favorite part is the fact that it is an armoire so you can close it all up and it is all concealed. My only problem with this piece of furniture are the armoire doors, they are not as “modern” or “chiq” as I would like them to be. All of the furniture in my house is very “modern”.

Here is the information to the armoire/vaniity that I found: Jessica McClintock Home Couture Dressing Armoire with Castered Stool.

Please let me know if you have seen anything similar but with a more modern twist on the doors. I do not like the “swirls”, I am looking for a more “clean” style.

I really appreciate your help!

Please, no mean comments. Thank you!

It’s very nice.

Why don’t you buy the piece, and then get a carpenter to make new doors. Then you would have what you want inside and exactly what you want outside.

I saw the vanity also, and it’s AWESOME! How about buying it, and painting it black, or silver? Remove the mirrors or screens whatever they are, from the inside, and it should be easy enough to do, and the applique’s on the edges should be fairly easy to remove, sand away the evidence that they were there, or replace them with something else and paint it black, or red, or whatever matches your decor.

Sounds like you’ve had several great ideas on how to modify the Jessica McClintock piece to fit your needs. Those ideas are fantastic and will work well. That said, if it were me, I just couldn’t pay $4000 for a piece of furniture then have to modify it to fit my needs. I don’t think you’ll find anything like this in a contemporary/modern style, that wont be custom or extremely expensive. Again, if this were me, I’d have to “manufacture” something like it on my own using already built pieces. For example:

If you took a very contemporary/modern wardrobe like this one: ($419)

Put 2 of these inside the wardrobe, mounted on either side: ($160 for both)
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30053921
Have a piece of wood cut to mount on top of both 3 drawer units (to make a table top). Stores like Lowes and Home Depot will do this for you.
Add a mirror and lights (lighting may be a bit difficult but I would just buy a light bar (designed for a bathroom vanity) and mount it to the inside (back wall) of the wardrobe and run the wiring through the back of the wardrobe to a plug in the wall) and you are probably still 75% less in cost. You’d end up with something similar in size and function and semi-custom to fit your needs at a fraction of the cost.
