modern warfare 2 wont fill my screen after driver update?

Ok so Ive updated to the latest catalyst driver version, i could give you the version number but theres about 15 digits in it. Prior to this everything fitted the screen I am currently using now at full 1080 hd.

Having installed it I found the desktop no longer fitted my 21 inch full HD monitor which it would before the update, so I scaled it in the catalyst control center this fixing it. It also made Mirrors Edge fill the screen among other games.

Now however MW2 wont fill the screen, instead at every resolution apart from very low ones it seems to have a border around the edges for no reason. The scaling option in the catalyst c.c. is out as it has to be set to 0 to fill my screen as it is. I’m getting really irritated at all this for a routine driver update :S Any solution would be a God send!

(by the way the graphics card I’m using is one of the ATI Radeon HD 5700 series and the monitor is full 1080 even at a relatively small screen inch so I know its up to the task not just because it would run before too)

Thanks for your time!
oh I forgot to add, both Mirrors Edge and MW2 run on steam so theyre always fully updated. And my OS is windows 7

You may not update the right drivers for your ATI Radeon HD 5700 series.
Driver Detective finds drivers on your system that are out-of-date, missing, or incorrect, it warns you and recommends that you let it download the latest drivers for you. Here, you can see that Driver Detective is recommending that we update our “broken” device with the latest official driver.
Try it.
